Do you often find yourself tossing and turning in bed, searching for the best sleeping position? Many people have already found their ideal one, but for many others, the search continues every time they go to bed. Each position has its benefits: lying on your back, sleeping on your back, or sleeping on your side can have a significant impact on your health.

According to some experts, sleeping on the left side can offer numerous health benefits. Besides being a comfortable and relaxing position, it supports some fundamental bodily processes, improving our overall health.

Breathing and the spine . Sleeping on your stomach or upper back can cause pressure on the pelvis or upper back, while sleeping on your left side helps relax the entire spine. It also promotes the passage of air through the lungs.

Digestion . Sleeping on the left side also improves food transit. Specifically, this position allows food to travel more quickly from the small intestine to the large intestine, and finally to the colon.

Lymphatic drainage . Most of the lymphatic system is located on the left side of the body. When you sleep on this side, gravity gently pushes the lymphatic system away from the heart and spleen, both of which are also located on the left side of the body.
